UHMW plastic is a high molecular weight polyethylene, which gives it technical characteristics that make it superior to any other plastic in this category. Obtained through a Thermo-compression or RAM Extrusion process, UHMW has high resistance to impact and abrasion wear, being more indicated where moving parts cause friction.
Its impact resistance is one of the largest of all known plastic materials, and it also resists very well to chemical components of acids, solvents, fuels and oxidants. It is self-lubricating, eliminating the need for maintenance, and is also able to absorb noise, reducing sounds from machines, vehicles and industrial installations.
UHMW plastic is suitable for replacing materials such as steel, bronze, brass, aluminum, wood, and various other engineering plastics. It can be applied to equipment and silos lining, sliding plates, couplings, supports, gears, suction box covers, food handling tables, stops, bearings, profiles, pistons, pulleys, among others.
Environmentally, UHMW is a recyclable, non-flammable plastic that is completely harmless to the environment even when incinerated.
